Every scar tells a story of strength.

But scars also leave behind restrictions, immobility and pain.

What is Scar Tissue?

Scar tissue forms as part of the natural healing process. After breast surgery, this tissue can become tight, restricted and develop adhesions which can restrict movement - sometimes causing pain or pulling sensations.

What You Might Notice:

  • Pain, tightness or pulling in the chest or shoulder

  • Restricted arm movement

  • Postural imbalances - often restrictions can result in the shoulder pulling into internal rotation, also placing stress and tension on the upper back and neck

  • Numbness or hypersensitivity around the scar

  • Tethering or scar pulling inwards

  • Emotional disconnection from the area

How Osteopathy & Scar Release Can Help:

Using gentle hands-on techniques, Osteopaths can release scar restrictions and improve tissue mobility.

This helps support the body's natural healing, reduces pain and may restore and sense of ease and connection to the area.

Exercise rehabilitation, stretching and self release work can also help to restore movement and rebuild strength.

Benefits of Scar Tissue Release & Rehabilitation

  • Reduces pain and tightness

  • Improves range of motion

  • Improves muscle function and strength

  • Supports lymphatic drainage

  • Enhances emotional healing

  • Promotes better posture

When Can I Start?

Scar work can often begin 6 to 8 weeks post-surgery, once the wound is fully healed (but always check with your surgeon).
